Local Bike Shop Day

Local Bike Shop Day is the one day a year when independent bike shops across the UK can come together to celebrate their distinctive culture. It’s the day for local bike shops to showcase their passion, knowledge and personalised service they offer to their local communities.

This year celebrations took place on Saturday 3rd May 2025 and what a fantastic day it was. As the day came to a close, one thing was clear: Local Bike Shop Day isn’t just a celebration of cycling – it’s a celebration of people, passion, and the power of local.

Thank you to all that supported your local bike shop! And if you missed it this year—don’t worry, you can drop in to your local bike shop anytime!  You can read more about previous events here.

Local Bike Shop Day is an industry wide initiative managed by the Association of Cycle Traders.

I’m a Consumer

Local Bike Shop Day is all about celebrating the community and culture that is independent bike shops, giving specialist independent bike dealers (IBDs) the chance to highlight what makes their shop stand out, why consumers should shop local and what sets them apart from bigger national retailers.

It’s a day when shops open their doors to everyone, from first-timers, females and children through to experienced riders.

It is more important then ever for communities to work together to put independent shops back at the heart of the UK’s towns and since 2018, we’ve been celebrating independent bike shops across the country. Starting with just 100 bike shops, the campaign now sees over 500 local bike shops take part in the celebration.

So when it comes around to the day, pop into your local bike shop to show your support, take photo’s and add to the buzz on social media with the hashtag #supportyourlocalbikeshop.
